These are strange times. And if you're an independent author, you might be wondering how to go about launching that book you've worked so hard on for so long. Actually getting it up for sale is the easy (and inexpensive) part, but everyone knows that in order to appeal to potential readers, you'll need a professional cover design.
A book cover isn't something you should do yourself if you don't have the experience. It can take years of research and design training to learn the details and techniques that go into creating a successful cover. But quality covers can be expensive, and in an uncertain economy, you might not want to put out the money even for a decent, if generic, premade cover. That's why I'm here.
I have a design background, and I've created covers for my own books and for author friends for a long time. But now I'm making it official. My portfolio is small but strong. And for a limited time, I'm offering free* cover designs to independent authors of romance, chick-lit, and women's fiction. All I ask in return is that you allow me to use your cover in my portfolio.
Writing a book is an amazing accomplishment, and you deserve to see your hard work packaged in a way that reflects that. Let's work together to make that happen!
*You won't be charged for the design work, or for the use of any fonts in The Magenta Quill's extensive font library. However, you will be asked to cover the cost of licensing for any stock imagery purchased for use in the cover, even if it's not used in the final design. Price will vary based on stock site used and you will be informed of the price prior to purchase and given the opportunity to decline. Stock imagery licenses are non-transferable in most cases, though we will gladly provide a purchase link to the original site if you wish to purchase the image yourself. You also have the opportunity to provide your own stock imagery or font files for use in your cover design, as long as you've secured the necessary licenses and paid any additional fees to the stock site or photographer. The Magenta Quill will not check to confirm usage rights for any images or fonts provided for use in a design. If you have any questions, please get in touch via the Contact form.
